Syringes verses pens and the pump

I use a syringe.  I do not want to use a stupid pen or the pump.  Why?  It's really simple.  I cannot use warm insulin and both the pen or the pump use warm insulin.  And I like using a syringe.  I have used one since I was 5 years old.  I see no reason to stop.  I'm fine using one.  Plus if I were to switch to either a pen or a pump it'd take me six months to get the amounts perfected.  And with my menopause, I don't need the additional stress added to my body.  I don't want or need that.

I know a lot of new diabetics want to go directly to the pump.  I think that is a bad idea.  I really think you need to take your time.  Learn what it's like to be a diabetic first.  And the cost of the pump is outrageous, even for people with insurance.

I also really don't like it when pen and pump people get all hi and mighty over the few of us who still use a syringe.  They tell those of us who use N and R insulin that it's old and bad.  Well if it's working for us, why should we switch.  If we have it figured out, and we have no problems, I don't see why we should change.  We don't tell you to change, so don't tell us.  I like my syringe, although I'd much rather have a glass one than these stupid plastic ones.  I also hate the stupid short needles.  I forgot to tell my nurse when I needed a refill on my syringes not to order the short needled syringes.  So that's what I got.  I HATE THEM.
