I know I posted in Kayla's blog that I wasn't able to get a CGM or a pump to due the cost. Because of my surgeries of last year, we were able to get me a CGM. I cannot do a pump because I have problems with warm insulin. For some reason, whenever I use warm insulin, it's like the insulin has gone bad.
So I get my CGM, I got a Dexcom. It arrived on December 30. I had to wait until January 6 to learn how to use the machine and insert the sensor.
You can see that I haven't even had it attached to me a week and I've already had problems. I called Dexcom three times this week. The last time I called today was after I had done a reset on it, as directed by the tech person. A few minuted after I hung up, it vibrated, buzzed then I got a musical tone and a new screen showed up with an error message. I now have to wait for a new Dexcom as they are replacing the one I just got because my first one flipped out. I am not a happy camper.

Well I have learned I'm allergic to the adhesive helper I got to help secure the CGM sensor to my body. I knew I was allergic to silk tape and was worried about the adhesive on the CGM. I had to go several days without wearing the CGM because of the reaction to the adhesive pad.
I put the new sensor on without the help of the adhesive helper. We'll see if I react to that. If I do, I'm not sure what we'll do.
My husband says, if that happens, we'll only use it when he's gone on overnight trips.
Well I have decided that CGM's aren't so great after all. My CGM is not always right with my meter. Most of the time it is way off. So I'm testing just as much as before. I had thought having the CGM would lessen the amount of times I had to test my blood sugar. This and the face that I can't use the adhesive helper makes having the CGM not as helpful as I had hoped. Oh well, live and learn.
